Royal Doulton produced a range of Whisky decanters for the Whyte & Mackay distillery.
The range comprised of Birds of Prey.

This particular decanter is the Barn Owl.

부엉이는 올빼미목으로 유럽과 남 러시아에 많이 거주(서식) 하고 있습니다.
크기는 어린 부엉이의 보통 크기는 37-43 센치미터의 길이와 81-96 센티미터의 날개 길이를
가지고 있습니다.
부엉이는 넓고 둥글며 딱딱한 머리와 둥근 날개를 가지고 있습니다. 
자기 둥지와 새끼들을 보호하는데 겁이 없어서, 침입자들의 얼굴을 날카로운 발톱으로 공격합니다.

지역에서 1988년에 수확한 포도를 발효 시킨 후, 증류하여 리무쟁 오크통 속에서 18년 동안을 숙성 시킨

꼬냑입니다.

1988년은 강우량이 많아서 포도 재배에 좋지 않은 날씨로 인해서 포도의 품질과 수확량이 좋지 않았으며,

레미 마르땡사의 셀라 마스터는 이해에 증류한 수천개의 꼬냑통 중에서 오직 네통의 오드비 (Eaux-de-vie)를

따로 선별하여 18년 동안 잘 관리하여, 2006년에 물을 섞지 않은 캐스크 스트랭쓰 (Cask Strength)인

알코올 농도 45% 그대로 병에 담아서  2007년 3월 부터 한정 수량만을 출시하였습니다.

꼬냑은 일반적으로 적게는 십여종, 많게는 천여종에 이르는 많은 종류의 오드비들을 블렌딩하여 생산합니다.

그러나, 이 꼬냑 처럼, 단일 연도에 증류한 오드비만으로 만든 꼬냑을 빈티지 꼬냑 (Vintage Cognac)이라고

하며, 불어로는 밀레짐 꼬냑 (Millesime Cognac) 이라고 합니다. 

또한, 이 꼬냑 처럼, 꼬냑지방의 6개 생산 지역 (끄뤼 : Cru) 중에서 단일지역에서 생산한 오드비들 만으로

생산한 꼬냑을 단일지역 꼬냑 (Single Cru Cognac) 이라고 합니다.
