This blending process combines over 40 different malts in oak sherry casks before being
blended with selected aged grain whiskies.
The blend is then returned to another set of sherry casks to complete the second maturation.

Dave Broom Nose A lifted spicy nose without water, dipping into lemon sherbet, lime and mandarin with some chocolate, smoky wood and cold tea as well. Palate Seriously chewy stuff with a layer of almost minty toffee running through it. Finish Long and rich with dry coconut and spice. Comment An absolute cracker. Taste a whisky as good as this and you'll be instantly converted to blends.

13 Year Old Aged Blended Scotch Whisky

The secret of the rich, rounded taste of the thirteen is in the unique Double Marriage
maturation process.

 
At 12 years old, when other producers bottle their aged blends, Whyte & Mackay's Master Blender
brings together the finest malt whiskies, then returns them to sherry casks to marry for another
year ? a loving union.

At 13 years old the second marriage takes place, when the finest grain whiskies are introduced to
this blend of malts to create the masterpiece that is the thirteen.

Radiant, golden highlights - shimmering bright.

nose:
A firm, rich bouquet. Mellow and full. A slight hint of wood can just be detected.
Polished and elegant - not overpowering - the spirit rises gently to reveal its long age in wood.

Michael Jackson Nose Richer aromas. Spicier. Appetising. Palate Bigger, softer. Again a suggestion of cherries. Rose-hip tea. Spicy balancing dryness. Finish Smoother, Very long. A fragrant, lightly smoky, hint of peat. Comment Still on the sweet side but dexterously balanced. Beautifully rounded flavours.

Dave Broom Nose Unreduced there's some coconut along with meaty notes. When water is added out come toasted nuts, orange blossom, butter and real sexy richness. Palate A lovely start which builds slowly from digestive biscuit into a soft juicy centre with vanilla, mocha, tobacco and not bracken notes. Finish Juicy and creamy with good weight. Comment If this were a person it would be Salma Hayek.

40 Years Old Aged Blended Scotch Whisky

It takes 40 long years to create this masterpiece but only seconds to recognise its outstanding quality.

The oldest Whyte & Mackay blend released to date, this ｅxpression should be available later this
month and is limited to just 1,000 bottles.

It includes malts matured in both American White Oak and Gonzales Byass Amoroso Sherry butts.

According to the company's Master Blender Richard Paterson, Time is needed to study and appreciate
this old masterpiece.

Rare aged grain and malt whiskies have been selected to produce a blend of indefinable smoothness.
However, with 70 per cent malt (in recognition of John McIlraith's 70 years of service with the
company during the 19th century), in this noble blend there is adequate structure and backbone
from the Highlands to make their immediate presence felt.

Vanilla fudge, chocolate and sweet Sherry on the luxurious nose, which dries and offers orange
marmalade and old oak with time.
Big and mouth-coating, notably spicy, with ripe oranges and peaches on the palate, which dries
steadily and elegantly, finally giving bitter chocolate and nuts.
Difficult to keep a whisky this old from going over the edge into an undesirable oak-fest, but
Paterson manages it with aplomb.

The secret of the success of the Whyte & Mackay blend lies in its unique double maturation
process which gives the whisky its smooth taste.

This blending process combines over 40 different malts in oak sherry casks before being
blended with selected aged grain whiskies.
The blend is then returned to another set of sherry casks to complete the second maturation.

This unique double maturation process produces a smoother mellow tasting blend of superior
quality.

Tasting Notes:

A delicately complex taste for a blended whisky, the sherry casks are apparent,
a very pleasant lingering aroma.
