한정 생산한 Glenfiddich 12 Toasted Oak Reserve를 2006년 크리스마스를 준비하여

2006년 10월 12일 부터 영국과 유럽시장을 대상으로 출시하였습니다.

American Bourbon Whiskey를 담았던 195 리터 (스카치 위스키 통 중에서 가장 작은 크기) 오크통을

수입하여, 통의 내부를 불로 그을린 후, 글렌피딕 몰트 위스키를 담아 12년을 숙성 시킨 후, 여러통의

위스키를 큰 통에서 섞어서 다시 통에 담아 3개월 동안의 매링 기간을 거친 후, 병에 담았습니다.

Tasting Notes

Dave Broom Nose Pine sap, aromatic woods, beech nut. In time a sweeter note of kumquat, then pan drop/minty sweets. Oak driven, but sweetly so. Palate Slightly thin after such an impressive nose. Plenty of wood and a touch of creme brulee. Finish Soft, pillow-like. Comment A bit of a let down after such a great nose. A very pretty whisky but higher alcohol might have given it better impact in the mouth.

Arthur Motley Nose Satsuma segments, nail polish, apricot cream and papaya. Then a doughy, pumice-like element, that borders on soapy. Palate Sweet, with vanilla and almonds and a lightly bitter oakiness. Finish Pretty short, but a delicate US oakiness. Comment A pretty nose but fairly uneventful on the palate. Pleasant.

Glenfiddich is launching a limited edition Glenfiddich Toasted Oak Reserve 12 Year Old

across the UK for Christmas.

 
Distributed by First Drinks Brands, the new product is another variant to be added to the

extensive Glenfiddich single malt range.

The whisky was created using hand-selected casks whose toasted interior had released a

distinct amount of vanillin from the wood leading to a rich, gently spiced, sweet vanilla

aroma from the whisky.

The 195-litre barrels, which had been used to mature American whiskey before being

shipped to Scotland and filled with Glenfiddich, are the smallest standard casks used to

store Scotch whisky.

 
After the contents of the casks were vatted together, the single malt was refilled into

casks for a three-month marrying period to ensure consistency throughout the small

batch production prior to bottling.

Glenfiddich malt master David Stewart said: “In recent years, we have come a long way

in understanding the impact wood has on the final flavour of maturing spirit.

Glenfiddich Toasted Oak Reserve reflects this knowledge as only casks that give the

perfect vanilla and oak flavour to the spirit have been selected for this bottling.”

Glenfiddich Solera System은 Sherry Oak, Bourbon Oak, New Oak에서 숙성시킨 원액을 Solera Vat라는

큰 통(위 사진)에 담아 두었다가, 어느정도 일정기간이 지나면 아래부분의 원액의 일정량을  작은 통인 Solera Tun

(Tun도 Vat와 마찬가지로 통을 뜻합니다)으로옮겨 담아 2~3개월의 메링 과정을 거친 후에 병입하는 방법을 말합니다.

Solera Vat에서 담겨져 있는 과정은 숙성과정에 포함되지 않기 때문에 Vat에 담겨지기 전에 15년이상 숙성 되어

있어야 합니다.

Solera Vat에 일정기간 담겨져 있다가 일정량이 초과되면 통(Vat)의 절반 이상의 양을 반드시 남겨두고 작은통으로

옮겨져야 합니다.

Special signed limited edition of 500 bottles

The Glenfiddich 50 Year Old is one of the most rare and magnificent single malt

whiskies.

Only 500 bottles have been produced, each signed by Alexander Grant Gordon, former

Chairman, and great-grandson of the company's founder.

This is the most expensive whisky ever sold at auction, achieving 99,999,999 lira

(about A,A￡35,000) at a charity auction in Italy in the 1990s.

In the 1930s, William Grant & Sons Ltd laid down nine casks of Glenfiddich spirit for

maturation, one for each of William Grant's nine children, who helped their father build

The Glenfiddich Distillery.

After lying undisturbed for over 50 years, the highly symbolic collection was finally

bottled on 26th July 1991.

As a result of its 50-year maturation in 100% plain oak casks, this is the darkest

Glenfiddich whisky, with an astonishing taste.

It has a well-balanced nose, with a pleasantly sweet woody aroma. This progresses to a

smooth, sweet fruity flavour with undercurrents of peat and oak. David Stewart,

Glenfiddich Malt Master, recommends, "It is better drunk straight without the addition of

water. The taste is shorter than younger whisky; like rare old cognacs."

Three Centuries of Experience Combine in Glenfiddich Vintage

Selecting a Vintage whisky is a great honour and is usually the preserve of renowned whisky

writers or experts.

This year, Glenfiddich has broken with tradition and put its faith in the people who

actually make the whisky.

Craftsmen - Brian Robertson and Bill Duncan (mashmen), Dennis McBain (coppersmith), George

McDonald (spirit handling), Eric Stephen (warehouse man), Don Ramsay (cooper) and David

Stewart (malt master) - all of whom have been with the distillery for over 40 years

- worked together to choose the new vintage.

Their combined experience, totalling almost three hundred years, stood them in good stead

for the task.

The new Glenfiddich 1972 Vintage Reserve is an outstanding single malt made even more

special by the fact it was chosen by the people who helped to make it.

A beautifully textured taste delivers an intriguing oats and golden syrup sensation.

Cinnamon spiciness on the tongue with just a hint of warm orange and oak.

A warm and lingering finish.
