This is the oldest and most expensive Scotch whisky in the world.

In 1937, Cask 843 was filled with spirit from the stills at The Glenfiddich Distillery and laid down

in a dark, damp dunnage warehouse to mature and develop.

One day, the warehouse key holder sampled the spirit in Cask 843 and discovered an

unusually slow maturing whisky.

After 64 years, in October 2001, the Glenfiddich Malt Master declared that the Glenfiddich in

Cask 843 was truly exceptional.

Only 61 bottles of Glenfiddich Rare Collection 1937 will ever be available, making this a very

rare, truly unique single malt of extraordinary character

The Glenfiddich Rare Collection 1937 is unique.
William Grant founded the Glenfiddich Distillery in 1887 with the specific intention of allowing his whiskies to attain great ages.
This bottle fulfils his every ambition.
Cask number 843 was laid down in July 1937 at the time of the coronation of King George VI.
Unusually, despite its age, this whisky has held its strength and is truly remarkable.
Esteemed whisky expert Michael Jackson has described the astonishing colour, with touches of green, pink and bronze, as
extraordinarily beautiful. In his authoritative guide,
The Malt Whisky Companion, Jackson writes that Glenfiddich 1937 has a nose with a "huge bouquet" of "newly dug peat,
burnt heather, old books, leather, and oak".
As to the palate, it is "smooth and silky" and "wraps around the tongue, with sweet flavours reminiscent of treacle toffee,
creme brulee and toasted almonds".
With a long and warming finish of "bitter chocolate, cedar, and oak", this is a once-in-a-lifetime whisky that merits its price.
