Very gentle, but a precise clarity of flavours. Drink while listening to Vivaldi.

Sweet and grainy, like cereal with honey. No discernible hints of wood, smoke or peat. A no-frills aroma, solid, likeable, undemanding.
Palate
Unabashedly sweet and near syrupy from palate entry through mid-palate. The sweetness is grainy, not fruityor flowery. Light-to-medium bodied.
Finish
Notes of caramel and nougat are featured in the ultra-sweet aftertaste.
Comment
For those imbibers who relish a honeyed/caramel core to their whisky. If you prefer the more sinewy, definitive elements of oak or smoke, stay clear.

Ballantine's Master's는 영국 Ballantine사에서 숙성과정을 거친 45가지의 몰트 위스키와 그레인 위스키를

엄선하여, 블렌딩한 디럭스급으로 기존 17년급이 가격이 너무 비싸, 소비자에게 부담스러운면을 감안하여

프리미엄급 (12년산) 보다 한단계 높이고 가격은 저렴하게 책정하여 출시시킨 고급 위스키입니다.

또한 이 제품은 최고의 마스터 블렌더로 평가받고 있는 로버트 힉스가 그의 오랜 경험과 노하우를 총동원해

1년여의 실험과 연구를 거쳐 탄생 시킨 제품입니다.

제품명도 이러한 그의 수고와 열정에 보답하는 것으로 마스터 블렌더의 이름을 빌려 발렌타인 마스터스라고

결정했습니다.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Rich bronze gold
Nose : The first impression is of a quiet, sweet fruity aroma with a trace of almonds that then develops

a light floral bouquet that swells to a creamy orange fondant aroma which mingles with a dusty

             dark chocolate scent.
Body   : Full, round, luscious and velvety
Taste   : A sweet, warming, mellow flavour that slowly expands with a hint of oranges and pears
Finish : Moderately long but discrete, a reserved flavour that fades with a soothing sweetness

Comment
Gold seal is a particularly rich version of Ballantine, but this bottling seems even sweeter and less peaty than I remember. For me, the syrupiness swamps the house character.

Dave Broom

Nose
A sulphur/rubber note, mixed with light smokiness unreduced. With water comes a decidedly jaunty, maritime air with lovely soft grain behind.
Palate
Soft and clean building into a vinous, fino sherry quality. Soft, juicy grain appears mid-palate while smoke wreathes itself about. Good feel.
Finish
Smoke. Little short.
Comment
Balances all its elements very well. one to work on.

I could be in a leather armchair before a peat fire in the Highlands. Tinge of soot - very evocative.
Palate
An astonishing freshness. Some cereal-grain sweetness. Grassy. Burnt grass. Peat.
Finish
Dry and elegant.
Comment
The blending skills at Ballantine have long been renowned. The 17 has always seemed to me the most eloquent demonstration of beautifully composed and mature.

Nose
This needs water to reveal smoke, cooked vegetable, cocoa, walnut, wet leather and coffee.
Palate
A soft and quite creamy start then a burst of coal-like smoke halfway through. Hint of vanilla, orange juice, cream and biscuity crunchiness.
Finish
Medium length and very juicy.
Comment
I was surprised when the bottle was revealed. This has been a favourite for a while, but not on this occasion.

An astonishing freshness. Some cereal-grain sweetness. Grassy. Burnt grass. Peat.
Finish
Dry and elegant.
Comment
The blending skills at Ballantine have long been renowned. The 17 has always seemed to me the most eloquent demonstration of beautifully composed and mature.

Nose
This needs water to reveal smoke, cooked vegetable, cocoa, walnut, wet leather and coffee.
Palate
A soft and quite creamy start then a burst of coal-like smoke halfway through. Hint of vanilla, orange juice, cream and biscuity crunchiness.
Finish
Medium length and very juicy.
Comment
I was surprised when the bottle was revealed. This has been a favourite for a while, but not on this occasion.

Ballantine's 17은 일명 마법의 7기둥이라고 불리는 몰트 위스키의 최상의 블랜딩

마법의 7기둥은

Speyside Malt : Glenburgie, Miltonduff

Islay Malt : Ardbeg

Highland Malt : Glencadam, Balblair, Pulteney, Scapa 등으로 구성됩니다.

발렌타인 17은 수퍼프리미엄급 스카치 위스키로, 이 술은 지난해 총 생산량 16만

Sherry trifle, with chocolate. Some balancing dryness.
Comment
Much more sherryish than the colour suggests. Sweet. Sponge fingers. I wouldn't have recognised it as a Ballantine's.

Gentle with a hint of light coal smoke/tar, balanced with soft rich fruit (apple/plum/cherry), sultana cake, cream toffee, citrus peel, heather, spice.
Palate
Soft with lovely feel which moves nicely in the mouth. Soft fruit/butter tablet mixed with citrus freshness and smoke drifting in and out.
Finish
Medium. Fruity.
Comment
Subtle and complex. A very gentle giant
