Glenfiddich Solera System은 Sherry Oak, Bourbon Oak, New Oak에서 숙성시킨 원액을 Solera Vat라는

큰 통(위 사진)에 담아 두었다가, 어느정도 일정기간이 지나면 아래부분의 원액의 일정량을  작은 통인 Solera Tun

(Tun도 Vat와 마찬가지로 통을 뜻합니다)으로옮겨 담아 2~3개월의 메링 과정을 거친 후에 병입하는 방법을 말합니다.

                                  

 

Solera Vat에서 담겨져 있는 과정은 숙성과정에 포함되지 않기 때문에 Vat에 담겨지기 전에 15년이상 숙성 되어

있어야 합니다.

Solera Vat에 일정기간 담겨져 있다가 일정량이 초과되면 통(Vat)의 절반 이상의 양을 반드시 남겨두고 작은통으로

옮겨져야 합니다.

그리고 나서 빼낸 만큼 다시 Sherry Oak, Bourbon Oak, New Oak에서 숙성시킨 원액을 다시 위에 부어 보충을 합니다.

이런 과정을 통하여 술의 풍미가  일정해지는 장점이 있습니다.

Glenfiddich Solera Reserve 15 Year Old is created using a maturation process, quite unique

amongst Scotch whisky distillers, involving the Glenfiddich Solera System.

This 15 year old malt is matured to perfection in three types of oak cask: sherry, traditional

bourbon and new oak.

The whisky is then brought together in the impressive Solera Vat, a large hand crafted wooden

vat, which is always kept at least half full.

This ensures a consistent finely balanced single malt.

The process is completed by a settling period (marrying) in smaller Solera Tuns.

 

 

Matured in three casks: sherry, bourbon and new oak.

 

The Glenfiddich Solera system is unique amongst Scotch whisky distillers.

Fifteen-year-old Glenfiddich from three types of casks (traditional American bourbon,

Portuguese sherry and new oak) is married in a large Solera vat, made of Oregon pine.

The vat is always kept at least half full, ensuring a consistent quality of whisky is

maintained whenever it is topped up.

Then this beautifully balanced single malt is left to settle in a small Solera tun before

bottling.

The result? A full and fruity nose, with delicate honey and vanilla notes.

The taste is elegantly smooth, with a deep flavour that reveals fruit, gentle spice and

a touch of oak.

The finish is long and satisfying.
