55년 숙성 시킨 싱글 몰트 위스키를 프랑스 크리스털 명가 라리끄의 특별제작 디캔터에 병입된 맥캘란
라리끄 Natural Colour 는 전 세계에서 420병만이 제조된 리미티드 에디션 제품으로 각각의 병마다
일련번호가 표시되어 있습니다.
미국, 영국, 러시아, 아시아 등지의 선별된 시장에서만 출시되는 이 제품의 국내 가격은 1,300만원입니다.
2006년 4월 국내에 출시되었던 맥캘란 라리끄의 첫 번째 에디션이 위스키를 숙성시키는 오크통에
대한 오마주 (hommage : 프랑스어로 존경, 경의를 뜻하는 말) 였다면, 두 번째인 이번 제품은 위스키
천연의 색상을 주제로 합니다.
오랜 세월에 걸친 숙성과정에서 위스키 원액과 오크통의 상호작용만으로 자연스럽게 우러나오는 다양
하고도 심오한 색상은 맥캘란 싱글몰트 위스키의 특징. ‘Natural Colour’로 명명된 맥캘란 라리끄의
두 번째 에디션은 바로 이 점을 영감으로 하여 만들어졌습니다.
Natural Colour 디캔터는 앞으로 출시될 총 6개의 맥캘란 라리끄 디캔터 중 두 번째로, 이들은 맥캘란의
브랜드 철학이자 최상 품질의 기준이 되는 The Macallan 6 Pillars를 상징합니다.
앞으로 4개가 더 제작될 예정인데, 이는 맥캘란과 라리끄 양사의 뛰어난 품질과 장인정신을 여실히 보여주는
기념비적인 제품이 될 것입니다.
Natural Colour 디캔터에 담긴 맥캘란 55년 위스키는 알코올도수 40.1%로, 스코틀랜드 스페이사이드에
위치한 맥캘란의 정신적 고향인 이스터엘키스 하우스에서 반세기 넘는 시간 동안 귀중하게 보관되어왔습니다.
쉐리 오크통에서 숙성되어 짙은 로즈우드 색을 띠며, 피트 향이 살짝 감도는 달콤한 말린 과일과 섬세한
오크향을 지녔습니다.
이어지는 한없이 부드러운 뒷맛은 알싸한 시트러스 향과 피트 스모크의 여운을 남깁니다.
Natural Colour 디캔터는 파리의 디자인팀이 1910년 라리끄의 창업자 르네 라리끄(Rene Lalique)가
디자인한 클래식 파케레츠 티아라 향수병을 기초로 하여 디자인하였습니다.
남성미와 여성미가 어우러진 형상에 마개는 크리스털 장인들이 구현해내기에 가장 어렵다는 천연 호박색으로
만들었습니다.
Natural Colour 디캔터는 프랑스 알자스에 위치한 라리끄 크리스털 제조공장에서
Meilleur Ouvrier de France (프랑스 최고 장인에게 수여되는 상) 수상자를 포함한 25명의 숙련된
장인들에 의해 전 공정 수작업으로 제작 되었습니다.
각각의 병에는 진품임을 증명하는 동시에 100년 이상의 전통과 장인정신을 나타내는 라리끄 프랑스
고유의 사인이 새겨져 있으며, 크리스털 병마개 및 가죽 제본 컬렉터 가이드와 함께 가죽과 실크로 만들어진
케이스에 담겨 판매됩니다.
The Macallan and Lalique has unveiled The Macallan in Lalique Natural Colour decanter
containing a 55 year old single malt whisky valued at £6,000 (USD$12,000).
The Macallan have launched their second decanter made in association with Lalique, it contains
a unique 55 year old single malt whisky.
The Lalique decanter is made from Lalique crystal and features a bottle stopper shaped like the
Lalique Tiara perfume’s bottle stopper but is colored the same dark amber as The Macallan
single malt contained within the decanter.
Only four hundred and twenty decanter’s will be made and available through The Macallan’s distributers.
The natural colour decanter has been designed by the legendary French crystal house Lalique,
exclusively for The Macallan.
A limited edition, of only 420, have been produced, each individually numbered and available in
selected outlets in the USA, UK, Asia and Russia from January 2008.
Ken Grier, Director of The Macallan, comments: “At The Macallan we insist on natural colour.
It is the interaction of spirit and wood alone which delivers the rich diversity of colour evident
throughout The Macallan range and we used this as the inspiration for the design of this decanter,
the second collaboration between The Macallan and Lalique.
The Macallan 55 years old single malt contained in the decanter is cask strength (40.1% abv),
and has remained undisturbed for over half a century at Easter Elchies House – The Macallan’
s spiritual home on Speyside, Scotland - where it matured through the decades in a sherry oak
cask.
Dark rosewood in colour, the liquid has aromatic notes of exotic, sweet dried fruits with a hint of
peat-smoke, the finish is wonderfully soft, smooth and spicy with lingering touches of citrus.
Hand crafted at Lalique’s crystal making facility in Wingen-sur-Moder, Alsace, each piece was
worked on by up to 25 craftsmen, many of whom have attained the ‘Meilleur ouvrier de France’ –
the Finest Craftsman of France Award.
Each decanter bears the esteemed ‘Lalique France’ signature which symbolizes authenticity and
over 100 years of creativity, heritage and craftsmanship and comes in a specially designed leather
and silk presentation box, with a crystal stopper and a leather-bound collectors guide detailing the
craftsmanship that has gone into producing this beautiful object d’art.
