Distilled more than half a century ago and left to slumber in the oak sherry casks from Spain for which

The Macallan is renowned, The Macallan 1946 is an exceptionally rare malt which is 52 years old.

Its distinctive flavour is almost certainly a legacy of the post war years when fuel was scarce and

the barley would have been kilned over a combination of local peat and coal, imbuing The 1946

with a character more reminiscent of an island malt.

Each bottle bears a hand numbered label and is presented in a handcrafted display case,

accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, individually signed by David Robertson,

The Macallan's former Master Distiller. Recognised as a collectors item, a few bottles are

still available from select outlets around the world.

Tasting Notes

Michael Jackson Nose Restrained, dry, smokiness. Palate So smooth as to be elusive. Soft, delicate, elegant. Sweet limes and lemons. Finish Bitter orange. The peat and smoke returns, with sugared-almond sweetness gradually emerging. Comment A whisky of seductive charm.

David Robertson Nose Floral and fragrant. Hints of wood and spice. Palate Richly phenolic with lemon and apples. Finish Mouth coating oiliness delivers a long lasting phenolic and lemony aftertaste. Comment A very unusual ｅxpression! of The Macallan. Unquestionably a classic.
