델라맹 가문은 프랑스 자르낙 (Jarnac)에서 사업을 하던 생토뉴 (Saintonge) 출신의 신교도

이었습니다.

 

James Delamain은 1759년에 선조들의 고향인 프랑스 자르낙지방으로 돌아와서, 꼬냑 무역을

시작하였습니다.

1762년에 그의 장인인 Isaac Ranson과 함께 아일랜드와 네델란드에 꼬냑을 수출하는 회사를

만들었습니다.

 

James Delamain의 딸 Francoise-Elisabeth Delamain이 영국인 Thomas Hine과 결혼

하였습니다.

 

1824년에 James Delamain의 손자인 Henry Delamain은 Roullet Delamain 이라는 회사를

설립하여, 4세대를 이어서 꼬냑 무역을 지속해 왔습니다.

 

1920년에 단독 주주였던 Delamain 가문은 회사 이름을 Delamain & Co.로 바꾸었습니다.

따라서, Delamain 꼬냑의 창립년도를 명확하게 정의 하기에는 어려움이 있습니다만, 상법상

으로는 1920년으로 보는 것이 맞지만, 1762년 James Delamain이 만든 꼬냑 수출회사를

그 근본으로 볼 수도 있습니다.

 

델라맹 가문의 오랜 무역 덕분에, 그 지역의 포도 경작자들과 증류업자들로부터 신뢰를 받게

되었으며, 그로 인해서, 델라맹 가문은 최고 품질의 그랑드 샹파뉴 산 오드비들을 구입 할 수

있게 되었습니다.

 

Delamain Cognac의 설립자인 James Delamain의 후손들이 구입하여, 오랫동안 숙성 시킨 후,

커다란 유리병인 Demi-Johns에 넣어서 밀봉한 후, Delamain 소유의 저장창고에서 보관해오던

최고의 Eaux-de-Vie들을 사용하여 생산하였습니다.

 

프랑스 바카라사의 크리스탈 디캔터에 담아 총 500병만을 생산하였습니다.

Delamain 꼬냑의 공통적인 특징은

 

- 자체 포도밭 및 증류소는 없으며, Grande Champagne 지역의 15년 이상 숙성된 꼬냑을

구입하여 재숙성 시킵니다.

- 꼬냑을 숙성시킬 때 중고 오크통을 사용하며, 블렌딩 후 2년 정도의 Marrying 과정을 거칩니다.

   그 이유는, 많은 중소 증류소들로부터 오드비들을 구입하였기 때문에, 각 오드비들의 특성이

조금씩 다르기 때문입니다.

- 섬세하고 부드러운 맛이 특징입니다.

 

 

 

The house of Delamain announces the arrival of ‘Le Voyage’, a rare and precious Cognac destined

for collectors of the greatest eaux-de-vie.

 

This exceptional Cognac is presented in a limited edition Baccarat decanter of which only five hundred

have been produced worldwide.

 

What makes this Cognac extraordinary is the blend of extremely old eaux-de-vie that has been nurtured

in the famous demi-johns in the Delamain cellars.

 

These glass vessels protect the ancient spirit that has matured in to a veritable treasure.

 

Such an elixir traces the history of Delamain and represents a living archive of the house.

 

Whilst the labels indicating the grand age of the Cognacs have faded, the perfect seal of each

demi-john has prevented any evaporation.

 

These treasures from the last century, inestimable and ultra rare should only be seen on exceptional

occasions.

 

‘Le Voyage de Delamain’ invites you to discover the craft of another époque.

 

This Cognac remains in homage to the founder James Delamain, who as a young man returned to

France over a century after his family had fled to Ireland.
