Bottle Story

Mr. Daniel traveled frequently.

As a whiskey maker and salesman, this was pretty much required.

While on his travels, he often attended music halls in the larger towns and cities.

Even though Lynchburg was too small for a music hall, there were some

musicians in the area who could play the piano, the fiddle, and the like.

Mr. Jack's real love, however, were the brass bands that played in parades and

parks.

As the owner of the White Rabbit and Red Dog Saloons, Mr. Daniel decided that

he needed to draw people to the town square.

In 1892, Mr. Jack recruited townspeople and distillery workers as musicians for his

new band.

He purchased instruments, including cornets and drums, from Sears, Roebuck

catalogue for $277.70.

The band was a complete success and would play for the next twenty years until

World War I.

It has since been reformed and plays to this day.

This fine decanter was created to honor Mr. Jack's hometown band.
