Gaelic for "uisge beatha", meaning "water of life", from which the word whisky is derived.

Origin traces back to 16th century during reign of Mary, Queen of Scots.

Immortalized by Robert Burns in his classic 1791 "Tam O'Shanter" - "wi Usquaebae we'll face the devil."
